Bad Experience! My LG refrigerator stopped cooling on Saturday January 27. I was raised in a HVAC/refrigeration repair family and have managed two maintenance departments for mid to large size companies, I was also a General Contractor for over 20 years. I have always trouble shot and repaired my own appliances if electrical problems are encountered. I also have sealed system experience from previous employment positions, but no longer have the tools to make those repairs. I called Hometown Hero Appliance Repair to have my non-cooling LG refrigerator repaired because I knew it had a bad compressor. I had called LG in advance because I was made aware of a Class Action lawsuit against LG regarding faulty compressors in my model of refrigerator. My refrigerator was 7 years old with a 10-year compressor warranty. LG made notes in their system and were very helpful but stated that I must have a licensed repair company order the compressor and make the repairs. They stated that they would supply the compressor and dryer for free, but I would be responsible for labor and miscellaneous materials to replace it, thus my call to Hometown Hero. It took a week and a half to get a technician to my house. I had the refrigerator pulled out for easy access as they requested, everything was ready for the compressor to be changed but when he gave me the price to make the repair, I was extremely shocked, $1,288! I said to him, is that labor only? LG is going to supply the compressor and that is about three times what I expected you to say. He stated that they go by a “blue book” pricing guide, but “the company” allowed him to negotiate a little. He did a little figuring and came back to me with right at $950. I was getting mad at this point and said I need to go speak to my wife, I needed to leave the room. I came back and told him that his quote was still about twice what the job was worth being that there was only 5.1 ounces of R134a refrigerant in the refrigerator, LG was supplying the compressor and dryer and that this was less than a two-hour job. He then stated that he could leave the compressor with me if I did not want him to repair the refrigerator, but we had already been without a refrigerator for more than a week. I told him we were suffering and really needed for it to be fixed. He came back with another offer to make the repair for $788. I felt like this was my last opportunity to get the refrigerator repaired or start over with a different company. I caved in and accepted the painful negotiated rate. I feel like I was taken advantage of, and price gouged. I know from experience that there was no more than $80-100 in material which I feel is generous. So, this means I paid about $350 an hour for this repair. He was finished and gone in literally less than two hours (including the negotiating). I was never offered a price breakdown of the repair, only a handwritten total cost on their advertisement card. This is why our economy is suffering from inflation. It’s companies like this that are taking advantage of the general public and over inflating their services that are causing inflation in our country.

My 21-year-old refrigerator finally gave me reason to have it replaced. I hate shopping for appliances. Schaefers has been a go to for me on new appliances and entertainment equipment. I called and spoke to a salesman "Kevin" I gave him the make and model and price range. He looked it up found another the same size making a recommendation. I looked at it online gave him my credit card. They delivered three days later taking my old one. Wow, perfect. No stress and I like it just fine. I'll give you a call in another 20 years when it needs replaced.

I got a lemon refrigerator months ago. Had service out twice before they said that they would replace it with a new one. Been waiting for the replacement over 2 months. Electrolux made 2 appointments with me to bring out the new one. They never showed either time. So I now have the replacement scheduled with schaefers crew. I will have taken off work 5 days of work in order to get a refrigerator that works, so far.

I would recommend them to anyone. The company called a few days in advance, kept me informed by text and/or phone call. The service tec. was excellent, explained what he was doing, was careful not to damage anything, clean and polite. He quickly diagnosed the problem with the refrigerator water filter and completed the job very quickly.

Did not fix the issue with my refrigerator. Simply defrosted it and went on his merry way. Did not mention that it would continue to be a problem or that we would need to replace the refrigerator. When we called him back because the issue resurfaced two weeks later, he blew us off and told us it wasn't his problem.

The repair man Steve was rude, dismissive, and very quick to say it was a frozen fan on a refrigerator that was the problem. He gave instructions to let the fan defrost. I followed his instructions and the problem was not resolved. When I attempted to text and call him, he was incredibly rude, giving the impression that he was bothered, saying he didn't have time to worry about it and that they don't work on weekends so good luck. The Google search shows they are open on Saturdays.

We had a technician come out as our fridge was not working. He diagnosed the problem really quick (bad compressor) and noticed that it might still be under warranty. Told me to call and find out if the repair would be covered under warranty, and it was!!! It was so kind and honest of him to help us out that way! (Unfortunately the company had their own technician repair it, not Mom’s appliance). But I really appreciated their great service!

We called and he came out ask what noise was. We told him and he said either it is the fan or the computer board. We said fridge sounds like a dying screech. He said it is fan. He came Saturday and replaced the fan. Took 15 min he charred 241.37. Fan is not working need to replace computer board. Called him and told him problem. He told us to unplug and plug back in. Told him we did. He said u need a new board. He said he couldn’t fix it. He is going to Mexico. Now we have a freezer that won’t do what it should. I asked for recommendations and he didn’t recommend anyone. He is a rip off and we will never use him again. Che is outrageous in price!
