This was the third callout for my refrigerator but this time it is working. He waited and made sure everything was working correctly.

I will never use Sears Appliance Repair Service again! A so called “repairman” came out Oct 2nd and told us he didn’t know much about free standing ice makers but they sent him anyways. Said his expertise was in refrigerators and freezers. Told us we should just buy a new one because the fan motor was not working and they were out of stock and even if we had him repair it the labor would cost over $500. We declined his repair offer. Then we called a very nice online repair parts company, AppliancePartsPros.com and the “REAL” repairman walked us through troubleshooting steps and found the control board was not working properly in 30 minutes and never asked for a dime! We ordered the control board from Amazon for less than $200, installed it in less than 15 minutes and the ice maker worked like new! Been trying to get a refund for the diagnostic fee for almost 2 months now and they keep telling us the refund will show up within 14 days on our credit card, but still hasn’t! 6th call today!!! Super frustrating!!! Update Nov 24, 2024 - Reply to response from Sears Appliance Repair: Evidently you didn’t read my entire post - we have already called 6 times, sent several emails with pictures and invoice from Amazon for the control panel you requested. Even after we sent proof of 2nd opinion technician email and our own simple repair we were “DENIED” our refund request!!! Update Jan 16, 2025 - Sears Appliance Repair still won’t process our refund request even after several Supervisors keep telling us it is being processed and wait another 14 days each time we call them! DO NOT USE SEARS HOME SERVICE REPAIR!

Imran was the third technician to come out to look at my nearly new Frigidaire refrigerator. Two other technicians told me I needed a whole new motherboard which was pricey. Since that part was under warranty, I would’ve had to have waited for a week for the part and technician. After four days of no refrigeration, I contacted R and R, and it turns out that my fridge had Mysteriously fallen into demo mode. That’s it. Imran was the only person who figured that out and within in a matter of hours, I was up and running. The person in charge of scheduling was terrific, very helpful and Imran saved the day. I am very happy, and will only recommend them to everyone!

After replacing the ice maker the thermostat was not registering properly. When the technician came he found nothing wrong with the thermostat so he pulled the refrigerator away from the wall. The back of the refrigerator was corroded from the ice maker and so was the wall behind it. If he hadn’t been so determined to find the problem I would have had a bigger problem. He was terrific.

Original service date 07/01/21. Condo Clearwater, Florida, Frigidaire refrigerator, less than one year old. The service repair tech, Carlos, showed up as scheduled with only an iPad and a gun style thermometer. He took the temperatures of the freezer compartment and the food compartment. He took a picture of the manufacturer’s label. He then advised me that he would need to replace the defrost timer and the defrost thermostat. I was happy. I asked him how long the repair and replacement of the defective parts would take. He told me he would return with the parts in approximately one week, maybe more. I inquired if he had the parts on his truck. He told me that he did not. (NOTE: Any refrigerator repair serviced worth its salt would have both of these (as universal replacements) readily available and stocked on their truck. In addition, the OEM parts are readily available from local parts stores. I checked.) He then told me that he would call the main office of RR Appliance in Miami, Florida and informs them which parts he needed. By-the-way RR Appliance is actually in Hialeah, Florida. They, RR Appliance, would then have to call the manufacturer, Frigidaire/Electrolux, and advise them of the results of the service tech’s findings, since this was covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Then, with their authorization the parts would be ordered and Carlos would return to make the repairs. Carlos left. Carlos himself resides within 5 miles of my home. I had some concerns at this point. My wife and I were to be without a refrigerator for at least a week. This is most likely not Carlos’s fault nor RR Appliance, but the Frigidaire/Electrolux company due to the fact that this service call, the repairs, and the parts were to be covered under the original one-year warranty. In addition, although Carlos did not mention the evaporator fan motor as needing replaced, I had not heard it running and believed it would need to be replaced as well. Second service date 07/08/21. The service repair tech, Carlos, showed up as scheduled. He worked quickly and expertly to replace the defrost timer, the defrost thermostat, and the evaporator fan motor. The refrigerator was soon operating again. However, I have some concerns. Concern 1, the service tech used electrical tape instead of shrink wrap tubing inside the freezer compartment on the two wire splices of the replacement defrost thermostat. The manufacturer of the replacement thermostat supplies shrink wrap tubing for the purpose of covering the necessary wire splices and making them waterproof. Essential, I believe in an area of the freezer subject to freezing, thawing, and condensation. Concern 2, on Friday, July 9th, the day following the repairs, the evaporator fan motor began make intermittent “groaning” noises upon start-up. Is this normal, or did the service tech not get something aligned properly when he replaced the fan motor?
