Contractor performed a complete diagnostic check on my garage refrigerator. He found one of the inside components is burned out, and it's not repairable or replaceable.

Our refrigerator freezer wasn’t working properly, so the company we bought the appliance from sent out Sears Home Services. The first technician came out and told us he needed to order parts because our refrigerator was so "new." We then waited 2 months for the parts to arrive. Here’s where it got extremely frustrating: Sears would send an automated text with a specific appointment date. We’d confirm, I’d take time off work, and then they’d cancel the appointment halfway through the very day they were supposed to come. This happened repeatedly for 4–5 months! If you don’t want to be without your appliance for months and deal with endless rescheduling, I do not recommend their services. This experience was beyond disappointing and frustrating.

We bought a new refrigerator for our tenant and our tenant requested to have the door hinges switched so they open the other direction (basic top freezer model). I made an appointment with Mr. Appliance to have the work done two days later. This should be a fairly quick 15-20 minute job, but the manufacturer warranty gets voided if you do the work yourself. When the technician arrived, he didn’t do the work, instead he collected the prepaid repair charge of $265 and asked for us to call to schedule the actual work time. I thought this charge was exorbitant since the fridge was only $700 to start with. If the tenant had asked me in advance, I would have refused to proceed. I called Mr. Augusta to cancel the transaction and they want to charge me $115 diagnostic fee and only refund the balance. I explained there was nothing to diagnose, nothing needed repairing, this was a simple door hinge switch which they knew up front, and I wanted the full amount refunded. They refused and offered to have “the manager” call me back to discuss. This was about a month ago and there’s still no refund or call to discuss. I should have asked for the estimated charge in advance and that’s my error, but I’m guessing the telephone staff wouldn’t have been able to do that. The funny thing is if the technician had simply done the work at the time of the appointment, we could have all moved on. I don’t understand the need for a two-step system for a simple door hinge switch when there was nothing to diagnose. Update: I never heard back from the manager but I got a check in the mail for the full refund so I guess he reviewed my case and agreed to waive the “diagnostic fee”. Im changing my rating from 1* to 3*.

Horrible experience with our repair to refrigerator/freezer. Technician was knowledgeable and nice. The office receptionist was rude and not straight forward. Our whole refrigerator freezer was out food going bad this was explained to her. She did send technician out the same day. He found the problem, it was a simple part. He said he could not do it the same day as he was booked out. My husband called the receptionist and told her she did not explain that it would not be fixed on the same day! He told her our food was in coolers and would spoil by later the next day. She got extremely rude with him said they don't know if they can even get the part and they are overbooked for the day. My husband then asked her why would they even have taken our service call if they could not fix an important appliance repair on the same day. She yelled at him and hung up!!

In January of 2023 I called Mr. Appliance to look at my refrigerator that was erratically controlling the temperature in both the freezer and fridge section. They came out and determined that the freezer defroster s and controller was faulty. They came back in about four days with parts and repaired it. On October 11 I called them with the same issue. On October 18 they came out and agreed that the replacement parts from January had failed and it would be covered under warranty. I was instructed that it would take three or four days to get the parts so after four days unplug the refrigerator and let it defrost. Today is October 31 and I still haven’t seen them. I called them and was told that the parts will be here next Monday, 11/6 and they’ll be out to install them on 11/7. In summary, I will have been without a refrigerator for a month and have lost at least $500 worth of food. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!

We called for a refrigerator repair. Water draining from freezer into refrigerator. Not cooling correctly. First man comes, he can only access the problem and take our charge card for the repair estimate. Several days later another man comes to make the repair. 24 hrs later I realize the refrigerator is not cooling and the freezer is starting to thaw. Two days later the 2nd man and a third arrives to correct the problem. Two weeks later we have started the cycle again. Wait for the first man to return and he doesn't. I call and the receptionist in a can informs me that they had called and rescheduled for 3 days later. So now we ait three days for them to may e fix it or i spend another $400 for someone else. Maybe just spend 1500 and get a new one. They called that's why I was asking where he was. Of course with all this waiting and so forth we have thrown a freezer full of meat along with many refrigerated items in the county dump. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. STICK WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES.

I have done business with Howard's Appliance since 2006, bought eight appliances there since, however; BEWARE, this is NOT the same company that it was when Ms. Janice and Mr. Bill were there. I bought a stackable washer / dryer there 2006 - 2008, there was a defect in the washer, Ms. Janice sent Steve (Tech), he ordered the part, repaired the washer, Ms. Janice extended the warranty, never had issue with it. I recently purchased a new refrigerator, and a stackable washer / dryer. The dryer would run for a minute and shut off. Fred, delivery tech was sent out four days after delivery, did trouble shooting by phone with Frigidaire Tech, got dryer to run around twenty minutes, Fred said the dryer vent hose from back of dryer to outside vent had lint in it and this was causing the dryer not to operate. Dryer Vent was not checked when dryer was delivered or connected. I then had a professional Dryer Vent Cleaning company thoroughly clean the dryer vent and the technician noted that the dryer vent was not the issue, but the dryer itself had a defect to prevent the dryer from operating, as he disconnected the dryer from the vent and the dryer still would only run a minute then shut off. I then contacted Mr. Doug, the office manager at Howard's to relay that there was an issue with the dryer not operating, he was abrupt and told me that he would swap out the washer / dryer unit, however; if I had any issues with the second unit, that I would have to contact Frigidaire (one year warranty) directly for repair Howard's website states that they will repair anything and stand behind their product, which they DO NOT do. Once you purchase the appliance from Howard's, the warranty begins the day of purchase even if several days pass by before delivery, NO RETURNS or REFUNDS, even if the appliance does not work. Also, because I live upstairs, I was charged $425.00 delivery / installation fee. I only agreed to this because Fred was still there since 2006, he did a good job then with delivery and was given a generous tip since I live upstairs. Every time I had appliances delivered 2006 - 2008 (Fridge, Stove, Dishwasher, Washer, and Dryer) I gave a generous tip to delivery staff in addition to the reasonable delivery charge at that time. I am a repeat customer but NEVER again with this company. Fred and Chandler do a good job delivering appliances, except the dryer vent hose was not checked properly. Mr. Doug, manager is normally professional but currently is not allowed to make a decision without checking with the owner, as he is micro managed now. Mr. Doug was also there 2006 - 2008 when I purchased appliances previously and I had expected to have the same customer service experience as I had in the past at Howard's, however; this is not the same company as it was year's ago, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE and NO integrity! I have since registered my appliances with Frigidaire and was told that the model of the laundry unit that I purchased has experienced issues with the Dryer Circulation Board and that is why the dryer would shut off after a minute. Frigidaire noted that if I have any issues with my appliances, they have several local reputable appliance repair companies that will assist me with any issues.

Great people to deal with. Bought a slightly blemished new refrigerator for a lot less than retail, and you can immediately tell these folks are honest.

I bought a refrigerator on 9-8-21 to be delivered on Friday but they called and I got it on Thursday, they brought it and hooked it up with no problem and took the old away and it didn't long. I would say my entire experience with Howard's Appliance was great. All the employees were very friendly and helpful
