this summer while i was gone, my house watch people called leonard at hillside appliance repair as i have used them before. he sent out curtiss to assess the refrigerator freezer temperature fluctuation problem. curtiss immediately said to the home watch person. that's a really old fridge. (1984 amana bottom freezer with a smokey glass face). as fridges go she's a beauty. with out any testing whatsoever he determined that the cold control was shot and i would need a new fridge. upon returning to az. 4 months later i called a different service company to assess the situation. he used an infrared temperature gun which showed all the internal temperatures to be within range. the freezer was only fluctuating from 0 - 5 degrees. he deemed the refrigerator and compressor to be working perfectly. i will never use hillside appliance service again. old is often far superior to new!

My LG Refrig was not cooling fully - the freezer portion was working great though. Called a different repair shop and they said only Authorized LG Repair shops can effectively work on LG appliances as they have proprietary diagnostic SW and tools that are not released/made available to non-certified shops. Searched on Google for authorized LG shops and Hillside came up. Well - I should have read their website clearly - they list LG service but don't explicitly call out being "authorized." Anyway I was excited that when I called I was able to get a same day appointment! AWESOME! Super great communication and even called to let me know technician would be early. So far, so good. Technician comes into the garage where the refrigerator is located looks at the unit, notes the temperature is indeed not as cold as it should be but the freezer is working. Unplugs the unit, waits a few seconds then plugs it in again. He then proceeds to tell me my compressor is dying. No tools, not diagnostic tests, nothing! LG unfortunately has a real bad problem with their compressors dying (in fact there was a class action law suit about these), and mine did indeed give out about 18 months ago. I had called LG back then directly and they send over their technician, connected up a number of diagnostic tools and confirmed the problem. They shipped the new unit to me and replaced it for $250 + trip charge. I inquired of the Hillside technician if he was going to run the diagnostics to determine for sure the problem and he indicated he didn't have any tools to do that for LG as they are not an Authorized Dealer! Really?? I told them when I called initially the problem was with an LG refrigerator! The technician simply looked at me and said the compressor is dying and needs to be replaced. I'm no expert, but if a compressor goes, the freezer would not be working and the refrig wouldn't be cool inside. He proceeded to tell me if I got LG to send me the part under warranty he could install it for $500-$600 or he could get the part and install it for around $1200! I wanted to call LG first and verify the issue and make sure things were still under warranty so I thanked the technician and paid $98 for the trip charge - very disappointing for just plugging and unplugging the unit and doing no diagnostics. He was extremely friendly but did nothing for my unit and was not equipped to diagnose or fix it as he was not an authorized repair shop. I felt deceived - why did this shop not disclose, like the first one I called, that they were not authorized to work on LG units?? I ended up calling LG who after hearing the symptoms indicated it was more than likely NOT the compressor and they scheduled a service call for the next day. When I checked the refrig the next morning, it was working fine - both the refrig and freezer were as cold as they should be so I cancelled the LG service call. The unit has been working fine since then Bottom line - I can't review Hillside's repair services as they didn't do anything for me. Their staff and communications were EXCELLENT! Unfortunately I felt deceived by the company as they did not disclose they were not authorized LG repair shop and could not diagnose issues with my refrig - they could only "guess." Be sure to CLEARLY ask when you call this or any repair shop if they are AUTHORIZED to work on your appliance. I hope Hillside adopts a more transparent policy and fully discloses that information when customers call in for service requests. AMMENDED: Do not say I was told you weren't factory authorized on the phone - you did NOT! If you had, like the first repair shop I spoke with that morning, I would NOT have had you come out. Also I take exception to you "fixing" my problem. The technician told me (incorrectly) I needed a compressor replaced - upwards of a $1200 job! He didn't "fix" anything nor did he diagnose anything. He simply unplugged and re-plugged my refrig. Update: The refrig still has the same problem. Calling LG directly

Outstanding. We had a pre holiday emergency refrigerator/freezer issue. We called early in the morning and were able to get a technician out the same day. Adam was outstanding in recognizing and fixing the problem. Friendly, efficient and thorough. Will use Hillside and ask for Adam again. Very satisfied.

Am repeat customer. The tech repairman (Saul) diagnosed the problem why my refrigerator/freezer did not cool and gave directions what to do while the parts were being ordered. The parts were received & tech came to install the parts. The repair is completed and the refrigerator/freezer is working. Would recommend Hillside Appliance Services.
